This Week at the West Chester Growers Market – November 20th
November 20, 2010This Week at The West Chester Growers Market – November 6th
November 5, 2010
How is it November already? I just snuck a peek at my calendar, and can you believe we have just slightly less than 3 weeks until Thanksgiving? The holidays are closing in!
The Growers Market is still going strong, with plenty of wares to peruse. Produce is slowing down, but many of the winter vegetables and apples will still be around for a while. We are lucky to have a few vendors with greenhouses, which means some produce at our Winter Markets (which start in December). Yum! One of the items with plenty to spare is squash/pumpkins. I took this picture last weekend. It looks so picture perfect…::CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING::
This weekend at The West Chester Growers Market
October 22, 2010
Harvest is all around us! Leaves are littering streets, blowing color across sidewalks and front yards. Kids are excitedly picking out Halloween costumes, and dreaming about the candy they will collect with the simple question, “Trick? Or treat?” Adults are readying to step into the busy holiday season, pre-planning menus and picking up trinkets to dress up tables and shelves in the homes.
The Market is no different. Apples and pumpkins decorate tables and baskets. There is a purposeful bustle as more and more Market Goers arrive on Saturday mornings. They see what is in season, and begin to process ideas of how to turn this vegetable into a Thanksgiving side dish, or pick up apples to practice their pie-making skills.
It’s festive. And wonderful.
Our vendors are just as busy with their produce and products. Here is a showing of what vendors will have tomorrow…::CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING::
This Week at The West Chester Growers Market (October 16th)
October 15, 2010It is so delightful to visit the Market during the Fall. Spring is the time for the Market to start, bringing the beginnings of harvests and bumping into familiar friends again. Summer is hustling and bustling with all sorts of fruits and vegetables, which is exciting and invigorating. And then there is Autumn. The Market is settling down (not in popularity or foot traffic, mind you!), the weather is cooler, and there is a general feeling of ease as one strolls from vendor to vendor. There is something comforting about the sites of apples, cider and pumpkins. These sights are the mark of good things to come: cold weather, cozy sweaters, football games, and super fun (and tasty!) holidays! Autumn brings with it a feeling of anticipation and excitement like no other season of the year.
WCGM Weekend Recap
September 28, 2009Perfect Autumn weather highlighted the Market this past Saturday. It was sunny and cool while Market Goers flitted around from vendor to vendor. Amidst the chatter of voices rose the music of John Scardina. John has been a long-time favorite Market Musician, and played often at the WCGM. He recently moved to New York, but made his way back for a weekend of Market Music. His voice and guitar were a great pair, as he sang folksy tunes (and some children’s songs to appease our littlest Market Goers).
This Weekend – August 29th at The West Chester Grower’s Market
August 28, 2009
Can you believe that this is the last weekend of August? Summer is coming to an end. Luckily, summer will not be going out without a BANG from the WCGM! Not only will there be festivities, but the Autumn brings new crops and new events. There is never a dull moment at the WCGM!
This weekend will be quiet compared to the past few weekends, as the Market prepares for a Labor Day Extravaganza next weekend! You can expect all of your favorite vendors to be present, and a hearty bounty of crops as well!
