It’s OSCAR time!!

It’s Oscar time, it’s Oscar time… YAY it’s Oscar time… my favorite time of year!

Every year I get so excited for the Oscars, I really get into seeing all the films and making my predictions for the winners. Starting in high school I used to wake up early, watch them announce the nominations and then spend the next month preparing for the big night. I always try to see as many of the nominated films as I can. The last couple years, since having children, this has become more difficult, but I still make a decent attempt (and now my husband does too). Starting a couple years ago, we started the tradition where we have a few friends over, we make our ballots, we make our predictions, and best of all ~ we make bets. It always helps to keep you entertained when you bet on something, I heard this little tip with the Super Bowl and it definitely keeps the show interesting when they are doing some of the less exciting awards.

So make sure you tune into the Oscars next Sunday night, Feb 27^th on ABC at 8pm, Red Carpet starting at 7pm.

Out of all the nominees, Toy Story 3 is the film most children and families are excited for. This latest Pixar film that was a huge hit last summer and is the highest-grossing animated film of all time! Which is even more amazing since this is especially rare for a sequel or a trilogy. B and I finally got around to watching it a couple days ago (he just recently became a HUGE Toy Story fan and hasn’t let go of his Buzz Lightyear since we saw the movie) and I have to say it lived up to all my expectations. The Toy Story movies, for me, have been impossible not to love. They have a perfect combination of heart, humor, and action. I think this last goodbye is the best yet.

Just in case if you happen to be one of the few who haven’t seen the movie (like I was), I won’t give anything away. When we last left our favorite toys, they had accepted the fact that Andy would out grow them, but that they would stick with him for as long as he needed them. Toy Story 3 shows Andy as he is now packing and leaving for college. Toy Story touches us with a coming of age story that deals with children leaving home and leaving childish things behind. This really hits home to anyone who has children, no matter how young. I know this time will come and everyone tells me how fast the time goes. The story is not only touching and insightful, it is hilarious at times. You will laugh and you will cry (I know grown men who cried during the last 15 minutes) and one thing is for sure, you will love this movie.
