Win it Wednesday: Wine & Dine with The Town Dish

September 21, 2011

This week’s “Win It Wednesday” is served up by Chester County’s own TownDish ladies, Founder Mary Bigham and Editorial Director Amy Strauss. Since the TownDish (WCDish, DowningtownDish, KennettSquareDish, MainLineDish, PhoenixvilleDish, ExtonDish) lives to discover our local stomping grounds, one bite at a time, their themed prized pack highlights the Best of Chester County’s cuisine, valued at $100!

As a proud sponsor of this past weekend’s 32nd Annual Chester County Restaurant Festival, a downtown West Chester food festival that attracts over 20,000 food lovers, the TownDish wants to pass along their appreciation for the area’s best eats and sips, and allow one lucky winner to dive in and drink up!

Experience the incredible eats of the newly-awarded “Best Chef of Chester County” with a $25 gift card from the challenge’s winner: Chef Jon Amann of Amani’s BYOB! Amann won over the judges once again with his slicing, dicing, bruleeing and sauteing in the Restaurant Festival’s Annual Culinary Cook-Off (and yes, he was 2010’s champ too).

Amani’s BYOB is located on Lancaster Avenue in Downingtown. Providing a menu which incorporates the best local ingredients available each season, Chef Amman is able to utilize local farmers, putting a twist on the traditional BYOB.

Since the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail premiered in this year’s competition as a “secret ingredient,” we’re also giving away a pair of passports for the winner to go trailblazing during their upcoming Harvest Festival (taking place Sept. 24 – 25, Oct. 1 – 2). BVWT Passports are a $30 value EACH. BVWT passports do save visitors $50+ in tasting fees, plus they provide for a free commemorative wine trail glass.Plus, they do not expire until the end of December, so please – let the winery touring begin!

And, since TownDish team is certain there is nothing better than wining and dining (and since Amani’s is a BYOB), they’re rounding out “Win It Wednesday” with the additional gift of a bottle of prized BVWT wine.

Cheers to Chester County!

Virtual Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt… Calling ALL Wine Lovers – this one is for YOU!

February 12, 2010

Six years ago a small group of wineries in Chester County, PA, joined forces to create the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail in southeastern Pennsylvania. Today the region continues to grow in both acres of vineyards and numbers of wineries. Each winery has it’s own distinct personality for you to discover as you tour the local vineyards, taste test in the wine cellars, and picnic on the beautiful grounds.

There are several tasting events going on this Valentine’s Day weekend. Click here for more information and to view the events calendar.

The Wine Trail has two passport events each year at which passport holders are able to take part in wine tastings and a variety of events at each member winery.

The Brandywine Valley Wine Trail is giving away two Barrels on the Brandywine Passports to one lucky Virtual Valentine’s Day Scavenger hunt winner. The passports (or “tickets”) are good for tastings at all Chester County, Brandywine Valley Wine Trail member wineries on all weekends in March during the Annual Barrels on the Brandywine event. The passport also provides for a commemorative wine glass.

The winner of this prize and their guest will taste the developing vintages in barrels, buckets, bottles, see the new wines firsthand, and enjoy music and the special events planned at the stops on the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail. This prize pack is worth $50+ (the value of individual tastings at member wineries). The Passports are transferable. Please note: Passport holders must be 21 years of age to enjoy the wines of the Trail.

<Notice: The Brandywine Valley Wine Trail members pour controlled amounts of their wines for tasting. However, tasting at several wineries, in close succession, can cause one to unwittingly consume alcohol above the legal limit. If you intend to visit more than one winery in a day, we recommend you employ a designated driver. Please drink responsibly!
