Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre presents South Pacific (Enter to win tickets to the show)

July 23, 2013

The timeless classic South Pacific opened at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Friday, July 5. The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical features one of the most romantic scores of all time. Come get swept away to a tropical island this summer with South Pacific. This romantic tale of love and loss tells the story of two couples who fall in love on a tropical island naval base during World War II.

Audiences will be tapping their toes to all their favorites such as Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than Springtime, Bali Ha’i, There is Nothin’ Like a Dame, Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair and A Wonderful Guy.

Brian J. Enzman, Artistic Producer for Prather Entertainment Group, will be directing South Pacific. For the past twenty-five years he has been acting, directing and choreographing. Directing credits include Aida, The Music Man, Cabaret, The Civil War, Phantom, Hello, Dolly!, Gypsy, Mame, The King and I, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Evita, Annie, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Annie Get Your Gun, Funny Girl and Jekyll and Hyde.

South Pacific at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre will run from July 5 through August 17, 2013. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday evenings with selected matinees and Sunday twilights. Ticket prices for dinner and show tickets are $49 – $55; limited show only seats are $32, students 13-18 are just $23 and children 3- 12 are $19 for dinner and show. Group tickets are available for parties of 16 or more. My family loves The Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre! We have seen a few shows there this year, including “Freckleface Strawberry” and “CATS” and are looking forward to “How I Became a Pirate” in August.
From Chester County, it takes about an hour to get there (more/less with traffic). I also think Dutch Apple is a great venue for kids to experience live theatre. There really isn’t a “bad seat” in the house. Which I LOVE since I have taken my kids to see the shows – we don’t have to worry about them not being able to see the stage if a tall person sits in front of them. We just move a chair to get a better view.  The seats are at tables, not a row of seats. So if your child seems to get antsy from watching the show you can give them crayons and a coloring book to color (by candlelight). My kids are also BIG fans of the dessert bar at Dutch Apple. The food is served fresh buffet style with wait staff bringing drinks and clearing tables. There are lots of yummy options on the buffet, something for everyone.
