March 23, 2012

Facebook. Twitter. Pinterest. Youtube. Blogs.

Everyone wants to be connected, but many are uncertain how certain social media outlets benefit them.  Some might even be intimidated by the process of figuring out how things like Twitter or Pinterest work.  But there are so many awesome benefits for Moms in these social media realms, it’s just a matter of understanding them.

We will be hosting a Social Media for Moms class in the near future.  The time together will be casual discussion (hopefully with tasty treats involved). We’ll talk all about how Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and blogs can be great tools for parents. We’ll explain how to get started, and what new ways to use them.

Would you be interested in joining us?  Let us know! Fill our the form below to have all the latest info on our upcoming class.

And on my farm I had a…pink cow, a lost kitten and a lonely brown cow, E-I-E-I-O…

November 10, 2009

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am a “Farmville-aholic!”.

I gave into the peer pressure and just started playing about two weeks ago. I am totally hooked! I have been a regular Facebook-er for a little over a year and for the life of me couldn’t understand “Farmville”. The constant updates downright irritated me. Now… well… I speak “farmville”. Recently I have had full blown “farmville” conversations with people that I have not talked to in 15 years, all for the need of a lonely brown cow. I have also “farmville pushed” people to start playing….all for the love of neighbors.

I know there are lots of fun facebook games, but I can only handle playing one so Farmville it is. I am currently level 20 (Green Giant), hoping to reach level 21 by mid week. I have a pretty busy week ahead and I have planned my harvesting (cotton) around my schedule. (sick, I tell ya.. sick!).
For those that are also addicted to farming there are a few tips & tricks sites that you can visit I like http://www.farmvilles.com/. I seriously don’t have enough time in the day to play farmville, but I find it mind numbingly fun! We all need a little mindless fun, right?

My whole family is pretty much “on the farm” now. My brother who faught joining Facebook for the longest time caved last week just so he could see what we were talking about. He is pretty competitive so I expect him to have a villa in no time soon.

Last weekend was my mother in laws birthday and she is as excited about her farm as I am about mine so I bought her gifts that had to do with farming. Her card sang “The Chicken Dance”, my daughter painted a ceramic piggy bank, and we got her a Topsy Turvy, you know the upside down tomato planter that is “As Seen on TV”. We had lots of laughs as she opened the farmy gifts.

My Farmville Tip:
Go to your Facebook home page. Look to the left of the screen, there is a list with-Newsfeed, Status Updates, Pages, etc. and a “more option”. Click on the “more option”. If you have Farmville bookmarked a Farmville icon will show up. Click on it and you get to see all of your Facebook friends Farmville updates. The Farmville updates won’t be mixed in with everyday updates or other game site updates. I have been able to snag oodles of lonely cows and lost kittens using this trick.

As I type this my husband is laughing at me. Laughing over the fact that I think this is post is “blog worthy”, but those of you that play farmville.. you get it, you know. Yee-haw!!

Cheerios through the years…

November 5, 2009

Growing up with Cheerios

As one of the most iconic and trusted brands in America, millions of people have quite literally grown up with the great taste and nutritional value of Cheerios. Cheerio ats was invented in 1941, as the first ready-to-eat oat cereal that didn’t need to be cooked.

It was created under the lead…ership of Lester Borchardt, the director of research. Lester worked at General Mills for more than 35 years and his daughter said he ate Cheerios just about every morning of his life. In 1945, Cheerioats was rebranded as Cheerios. And the rest, as they say, is history. Through the years, Cheerios has become a staple in households across the country, because of its appeal for the whole family. From serving as the first finger food for many toddlers, to being part of a heart-healthy diet for adults, Cheerios provides a nutritional start to the day for every age.

Today, one of every 8 boxes of cereal sold in America is a box of Cheerios.
1949 – Cheerios sponsors The Lone Ranger television show
1954 – Cheerios becomes the number one cold cereal at General Mills
1961 – Cheerios includes a Lone Ranger action figure inside boxes
1971 – Oats are recognized as the grain highest in protein, increasing the popularity of whole grain and Cheerios
1979 – General Mills launches Honey Nut Cheerios
1988 – Apple Cinnamon Cheerios
1989 – Studies Show that oat bran may reduce cholesterol
1992 – General Mills launches MultiGrain Cheerios
1995 – Frosted Cheerios

2001 – Cheerios launches Spoonfuls of Stories, with 5 million FREE BOOKS in box to help children develop a love of reading. 2003 – General Mills introduces Berry Burst Cheerios, followed by Fruity Cheerios, Yogurt Burst Cheerios, Banana Nut Cheerios and Cheerios Crunch.

Which leads us to…today. For every Facebook fan Cheerios receives through November 5th (TODAY!), Cheerios will donate a FREE children’s book to kids in need. To become a Facebook fan of Cheerios click here.

Well, being represented by a REALTOR® will ensure that all applicants are screened by conducting credit checks, employment verification and reference checks. A REALTOR® can provide a lockbox on your door for convenience and a tracking system that will provide feedback from other agents and their clients after previewing the property.
