Getting Crafty with Nicole ~ Dangly Earring Holder… So cute!

July 8, 2011
I know I usually reserve blog posts for child/party/crafty related fun…but when I saw this idea – I just couldn’t resist…I had to share it!
One of my favorite blogs to check regularly is Kevin & Amanda…Amanda is one talented little chica! Her scrapbooking, decorating, cooking and organizing skills are ridiculously amazing – her blog is a ‘must see’! If you need decor inspiration…organization tips…or if you just want to have a good cry (because your house doesn’t look exactly perfect like hers) or even if you want tons and tons of FREE fonts…you must visit!

While I was browsing today, I came across a gem of an idea! A shabby chic dangly earring display!

You know that huge mangled pile of dangly earrings you have…yes…the one in your top drawer…the one that you dread going through when you need “those earrings” right now?! Yeah…that one. Well, Amanda has come up with the most adorable solution!

And with just a few simple supplies and a little time…you can make this shabby chic dangly earring display too!

Here’s the details…

Cost: Less than $10
Time: 30 mins
Supplies: picture frame, 12′ of picture wire, acrylic paint & brush, staple gun (or nails/tacks, etc)

Genius! And it’s perfect for displaying your dangly earrings for all to see!

Trendy Thursday: Play Dress Up!

April 15, 2010

I have several events coming up this summer that are going to require a cute dress.
Darn.
Guess I need to go shopping! (Sometimes its rough being me 😉 Lets see what we can find.

1.
‘Precious Petal’ cotton dress from Mod Cloth. So cute for under $50. Seen in the current issue of People’s Style Watch!

2. This Beaded Irish Linen Sheath from Talbots is classically gorgeous. Great for highlighting your arms and legs and hiding everything else — while not looking like a circus tent. A difficult feat indeed.

3. My crush this season is this solid embossed beach dress from J Crew. And the strapless version (solid embossed Lorelei dress) is just as gorgeous. The soft dove color is too gorgeous for words.

4. I just love the bold, mod pattern in the Signature Floral Dress by Jones New York. (and its on sale for $70!)

I’m sorry. I have to interrupt this post to ponder how many stores are selling rompers. FOR ADULTS. even White House Black Market! Is this a joke?!?!? Please tell me this is a joke….

5. This
Ruffle-Front Faux Wrap dress by Merona at Target is so cute! Love the color… and the price.

6. Oh. Be still my heart. Chiffon Ruffle Front Dress in vintage plum at LOFT. Oh, and its on sale!!! If only it was in my size!!

7. This Embroidered Dot Ruffled Sheath Dress from Ann Taylor is so classic… but so trendy. I’m a huge fan of ‘little black dresses’ that aren’t black!

8. Of course, you can never go wrong with black (says the girl with approximately 25 black sweaters). The Rushing Ruffles Dress from Anthropologie is a gorgeously feminine version of the little black dress! Love it!

Sidebar: alternate post title was “How Many Dresses Can She Find With Ruffles”

9. For a more formal wedding, this JAX Split Neck Pointe Knit Dress from Nordstroms is perfect. Not too fancy, a modern print, and a flattering cut for almost every body.

10. I love the back of this Silk Halter Dress from Banana Republic. So pretty!

What events are you shopping for a dress for this summer? Weddings? BlogHer? Spill it!

My daughter is almost 5, and quite the little fashionista. For as long as she has been able to talk she has always had an opinion about her clothing and the desire to accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. She is almost never without her beloved purse full of “lippy” and hair do-dads.

Santa brought my little “Betsy Johnson in training” a gift certificate to FashionPlaytes.com and we spent a good part of this morning designing a few new “pieces”…. that is what SHE calls her fashionable creations.

At FashionPlaytes.com, young fashionistas like my daughter can create and build their own fashion collection complete with a personalized label! Girls can share their designs with friends and family, order the clothes they designed, and have their unique creations shipped to them!

Fashionplaytes.com lets the “designer” choose from a collection of garments (shirts, dresses, skirts, jackets and even hair bands & bags) in various colors and then customize them with ribbons, ruffles, graphics, buttons, appliques and rhinestones.

As of lunch time my daughter has about 10 pieces in her “collection” (mostly from the “Audrey & Kate” line) and she created her own custom label for her clothing. Even with ALL of the embellishments I don’t think the prices are any higher than that of Old Navy or Gap. I am going to have her select her 2 favorite pieces for a start….and save the rest for her birthday & Valentine’s Day.

I think this will be a great birthday gift too for her friends. She will be so proud to design a shirt or dress to give them.
