Rehoboth or Bust!

April 7, 2011

Two weekends ago Shannon, Stephanie, Megan and I packed up the car and headed south to Rehoboth Beach, DE to meet up with some of our favorite blogging friends for Delaware Beach Bloggin’ Weekend hosted by Mel at Delaware Beach Families and Visit Southern Delaware.

Shannon, Steph and Megan had never been to the Delaware Beaches. Since I have been going since I was a teenager, I was excited for them to visit my summer stomping grounds.

We stayed at the BEAUTIFUL Bellmoor Inn & Spa on Christian Street in Rehoboth. We pulled up to a curb-side valet that helped us with all of our pretty Vera Bradley bags (see photo to left – that’s a whole lotta Vera!). There was a parking garage and plenty of off street parking.

Walking into the Bellmoor Inn, all four of us had nothing to say but, WOW! as we scanned over the lobby. There was beautiful woodwork and antiques throughout. It was so warm and inviting the minute we walked in the door and provided such a relaxing, calm atmosphere for our weekend away.

Waiting for us in our beautifully decorated rooms were some sweet treats from Cake Break, bottled water and a terrific welcome letter. Once we were settled into our rooms, we headed right to The Bellmoor Spa. Shannon and Megan had hot stone pedicures , while Stephanie and I had facials. Oh, how I love a facial! Tabitha was my esthetician and she was fantastic! She took the time to ask questions about my skincare routine and customized a facial for me. 50 minutes of pure relaxation!

Those beds we super comfy!

Then we were able to head down to a Welcome Reception with the other bloggers, Mel from Delaware Beach Families and Aubrey and Scott of Visit Southern Delaware. We enjoyed delicious wines from Fenwick Wine Cellars and munched on some other local fare. It was great to reconnect with and also meet some other PA/NJ/DE bloggers like Jo-Lynne, Sarah, Tina, Erica, Rebecca, Sheila, Chrissy, Jacqui, Jen and Karen.

After our spa treatments we walked to Dogfish Head Brewing & Eats, around the corner on Rehoboth Avenue. Great atmosphere, Great food..very resonable prices!

Dogfish Head is a great place to meet friends for dinner, beer or to enjoy a night of live music. There are dozens of Chester County distributors and restaurants that serve Dogfish Beers. Click here to find a location near you. Cheers!

Once we were finished with dinner we hopped in the car and headed over to the local movie theatre, Movies at Midway. Aubrey of Visit Southern Delaware arranged for us to have a private screening of “Eat, Pray,Love”, while enjoying desserts and refreshments provided by The Point Coffee House and Bake Shop and Atlantic Liquors.

A mom could get used to this VIP treatment!

Saturday morning we woke up and headed to the Bellmoor Garden Dining Room for the breakfast buffet… complete with omlet station. It was so nice to have a nice and relaxing breakfast and ease into the start of the day instead of running around like mad trying to get everyone fed and out of the door on time.

A trip to Rehoboth isn’t a trip to Rehoboth without hitting the Tanger Outlets. Being moms, our first stop was to the Disney Store Outlet. I am going to Disney World next month so I wanted to stock up on t-shirts for my family to wear while we are at the park. Yep, I am that mom, the one with the family in matchy-matchy t-shirts. Our weekend hosts provided us with a coupon booklet for the outlets, which came in handy and saved us all lots of money. If you are visiting Tanger Outlets make sure you stop by the visitors office to pick up a coupon book. It is packed full of good coupons and totally worth it!

Many, many thanks to Delaware Beach Families and Visit Southern Delaware for organizing this weekend. If you are visiting the Delaware Beaches this summer, make sure to check out both sites for hotel deals, town maps, family friendly events, local coupons, restaurant reviews and tips to make your trip to the beach a great vacation.

Oh… and although we didn’t get to stop this trip. My favorite, absolute favorite pizza in all of Southern Delaware is Nicola Pizza in Rehoboth. If you visit Southern Delaware this summer.. do yourself a favor and stop by. So yummy!
