Go Ahead Kids.. Play With Your Food (Crafty Snack Activity)

October 6, 2010

I don’t know about you, but I am SO over this rain. I am running out of ideas to keep my minis entertained. We have colored all there is to color, played pretty much every board game we own, put puzzle after puzzle together and baked both brownies & cookies. I am even caught up with my laundry – and that almost NEVER happens. With all of the time stuck inside, I am pretty much cooked in the creativity department… or so I thought.

During snack time today I gave the kids a bowl of Cheez-It’s, some prezel sticks and a bowl of peanut butter to make Cheez- It buildings and houses. They buttered the Cheez-Its with peanut butter to serve as mortar for the buildings. The pretzel sticks were the roofs for their buildings. As simple as this activity is, this kept my kids busy for an hour and a half. They had lots of fun and enjoyed a super yummy snack too.

I had to sacrifice a new jar of creamy Jif Peanut Butter and about 100 Cheez-It’s, but I see that as a small price to pay for 90 minutes of happily entertained children that were not fighting.

If you have any fun Rainy Day activities.. please share. I am all ears!!!

This activity would not be suited for children with peanut butter allergies.
