TRENDY THURSDAY: EDIT YOUR CLOSET FOR FALL

September 22, 2011
This Friday welcomes the first day of Fall and what better way to celebrate the change of seasons than to define your Fall Style! A great way to welcome the change of seasons is to Edit Your Closet! So what is a girl to do and where do you start? Here are a few quick and easy steps to simplify your life and update your wardrobe.

1. EIGHT BASIC PIECES: Roll up your sleeves and empty that closet! Create piles of shirts, pants, skirts, jackets etc. Evaluate and select your top eight favorite basic items. Pulling from each category starting with bottoms select a pair of capris, jeans & a versatile skirt. Then rummage through your tops selecting a solid T-Shirt, a textured shirt and a great sleeveless top. Finally, choose your favorite jacket & sweater. Keep in mind you want to select pieces that will transform well from day to night but you will need to consider cut, color, texture and proportions. Make sure each piece fits properly and does not look worn (no pills, pulls or stains). Also less is more so as you rummage through your closet stick to the rules! If it does not fit – toss it, out of style – toss it, if you have not worn it in two seasons – toss it! Ok, you don’t have to actually through the garments away a girl has options. Turn your old clothes into cash to pay for your new wardrobe by consigning or donate to your local charity!

2. DEFINE COLOR: Knowing the colors for this Fall will help you define your outfits. Here are the inspired colors for Fall 2011. As you work through establishing your basic pieces you want to assure you select at least one neutral or solid colored piece in each category.

3. STYLE & REFINE: As you create those fabulous outfits take a risk, step out of your comfort zone and create an outfit you would consider edgy or high fashion! Assure you have your conservative or personalized style built into each outfit! Have fun but only allow yourself two “over the top” looks in your Fall Wardrobe!

4. ACCESSORIZE: No look is complete without great accessories. Choose a versatile pair of casual flats, a dressy flat, a fabulous pair of boots and stunning heels! Add a bold splash of color to your shoe wardrobe or keep it neutral! Include a chunky handbag, a shimmering clutch and a great catchall bag for those impromptu getaways! When it comes to baubles Pearls are a great traditional accessory but color is king these days so add a fabulous warm tone crystal statement necklace to your wardrobe and spice up your basics!

5. TIME TO SHOP! Create a list of the additional pieces you need to maximize those eight FABULOUS basics! Be sure to buy only pieces you love, invest in pieces that will carry your wardrobe forward into winter. When you are unsure put it back on the rack, don’t buy a bargain just because it was on sale or a garment that does not flatter because it is in style. Know your figure and be confidant in what works for you. If the trends of today don’t fit your style than keep it simple and stunning. Monotone looks in red, cream, tan, black or brown always compliment and the perfect accessories will create your Trendy Looks!

6. WARDROBE LIBRARY: Choreograph your own fashion show as you build your outfits. Styling your eight basics pieces and newly purchased clothes creating several looks. Layout your outfits assuring to included accessories & shoes than snap away. Take pictures of your outfits, print and create a library of looks by occasion, color and days of the week. You will look & feel fabulous this Fall!

What are your eight favorite basic pieces?

Trendy Thursday: TRENDSETTING MOM ~ EVERYDAY STYLE

September 9, 2011
As a Mom it is important we make the time to take care of ourselves as well the kids, husband, house, bills and so much more. For many of us this concept somehow became foreign the second we changed our first diaper and engaged in the endless years of sleepless nights. As a new Mom even this Fashionista found her style undefined. Desiring a look that was stylish & versatile yet comfortable while on play dates or at the bus stop but could easily transcend to a workout at the gym. And for sometime this seemed like a tall order until I met Janet the Jockey Lady!

Janet Gallagher is an Independent In-Home Sales Representative for JOCKEY Person to Person. I know you are thinking is “she nuts she went to the bus stop in stylish under garments”????? As much as that look would make for great neighborhood fodder, I promise you my style is much more subdued! So what is JOCKEY Person to Person? Jockey is not just underwear anymore, but a high quality, comfortable, versatile, fashionable line of clothing that go can go from the gym to the bus stop, lunch or a play date looking poised and polished. The fashions are sold exclusively through home parties, while having a fun ladies night out with your friends you can indulge yourself in a fun shopping spree for one of a kind fashions. For most of the winter I live in my Jockey clothing, my favorite pieces are the bootleg pants with coordinating jacket. As I mentioned the styles are versatile, throw on a T-shirt and sneaks and head to the gym, change into your favorite flats and add few accessories and you are ready for a play date with your unique style defined! Now I must admit being a stay at home Mom, clothing purchases are not always in the budget! So how can you make Jockey budget friendly? Host a party and enjoy the fantastic host benefits! Every month the hostess gets 15% of her party sales in free clothing, one half off item for every $200 in sales and one 70% off item for every future party booking! In addition for the month of September if you have a $600 party, you also get 75% off a jacket or hoodie PLUS for a $600 party you can select up to 7 items on the clearance style list for 75% off! You will fall in love with Jockey’s Runway inspired line for Fall 2011 line. Featured below are the cape and aviator jackets both are $169 but a hostess can get them for $50. Not to mention the new jeans with 4way stretch look fabulous on everybody!
Janet Gallagher is my Jockey lady who is also a Mom! Janet elected to leave a career in engineering to be a Stay At Home Mom. But like many of us Janet needed something else, she started as an Independent Sales Rep and now is a Group Vice President. Jockey was attractive to Janet because they partner with entrepreneurs, self-motivated women to deliver high quality fashions along with a substantial income potential that is tied to independent business ownership. She loves what she does and it shows in the relationships she develops and the energy she brings to the shows! Define your style today with Janet. TRENDY THURSDAY: SPRING 2011 KEY LOOKS

March 10, 2011
I find the peak of each season refreshing as I watch the new trends and key looks come alive on the runways of fashion week. Many of us are more caught up in what is for dinner vs. who strutted what style down the catwalk! And since my hubby is not exactly enthusiastic about what Versace, Valentino or McQueen (Alexander that is, not Lightening) have created this Spring so I get to share the Spring 2011 Key Looks with you!

As we shed our heavy fabrics and dark jeweled colors of season’s past Spring prepares us for an exotic journey filled with bright colors, infused with touches of pastels and traditional warm & neutral inspirations. Adding zest to the season are aesthetically appealing floral prints, stripes, lace, macrame and crocheted fabrics. Fashion is reinventing 70’s glamour with sprinkles of Boho sophistication, striking an edgy side with biker chic looks; punk fashions are hot as are silhouettes of the late 50 and early 60’s. So what does this mean to a Mom with a closet filled with predominant T-shirts & Jeans?

Most of us will find a favorite pair of wide leg or boot cut jeans hanging around from season’s past pull them out and hang onto your skinny straight legs jeans because both styles work for spring! You can turn on the 70’s Glam with your wide leg/boot cut jeans paired with a T-shirt or a soft flowing draped blouse. Layer your style with a leather or military inspired jacket and your style will inspire. Now those skinny jeans paired with fabulous knee boots & a boyfriend jacket (collar up!) or your favorite leather jacket cinched at the waist with a skinny belt and you will be marked a dangerous Momma! Before you know it you will have been inspired to add BUY A HARLEY to your bucket list! See fashion is fun and adventurous!

For the ladies who prefer to dress with a feminine flair, this season will fit you perfectly. Soft flowing draped dresses, pencil & tail hemmed skirts and 50’s style dress silhouettes offer something for everyone. Again pair a skirt and T-Shirt than layer with leather, military inspired or boyfriend jacket and your style will go from dressy to casual. Have some fun and rock your Studio 54 by adding a great new piece to your wardrobe with a fabulous jumpsuit. Desiring a chic ladylike look, style a sheath dress with long layered necklaces and a clutch for a fabulous 60’s statement. For the ladies who prefer to wear the pants in the family, you will dress to impress with high waist wide/flare pants and a smartly belted in neat silk bow blouse with bishop cut sleeves.

Complete your look with a great pair of cat eye sunglasses, clogs, open toe shoes or kitty heels. Add a floppy hat , layers of metal neckalces, a long pair of dangling earrings and a bold metal cuff or neatly stacked bracelets to your wrist for that extra shimmer.

Now that you are a Fashionista on the Key Looks for Spring 2011, follow my next blog post as we chat about where to find these great pieces and how to dress for less!
