Momma is an adult spayed female domestic short hair cat that is available for adoption through the Chester County SPCA. Momma came to the shelter as a stray on August 3. Her finders believe that her previous owners moved and left her behnid. Momma is a sweet and affectionate girl who enjoys attention. She also enjoys laying in laps and kneading with her paws. If you are able to provide Momma a loving home, visit the Chester County SPCA at 1212 Phoenixville Pike in West Goshen or call 610-692-6113. Momma’s registration number is 96800612. Momma is eligible for our Eagles Purrfect Play for Cats adoption incentive program. This special program, made possible through a gift from the Philadelphia Eagles Treating Animals With Kindness (TAWK) program, allows the Chester County SPCA to offer a discounted adoption fee of only $25 for all special needs cats or cats over the age of 5! The Spayed Club is offering a low cost spay/neuter transport clinic to the Chester County community on Thursday, December 9. This clinic is open to all cats and male dogs. Appointments need to be made directly with The Spayed Club Spay/Neuter Clinic no later than Tuesday, December 7 by calling 484-540-8436. To look at some of the other animals available for adoption, visit the shelter or log onto http://www.ccspca.org.

Tasty Tuesday – Breakfast Casserole

November 30, 2010

As I write this post, it is Sunday evening. I have officially survived hosting my first Thanksgiving with flying colors, and enjoyed an amazing 4 day weekend with my Hubby and daughter. We’ve eaten LOTS of food, decorated for the holidays, strolled around Longwood Gardens at night with all the beautiful lights, and did a lot of relaxing.

I love that we did a lot of relaxing.
One thing I love about Thanksgiving is that even when it is over, there is still SO MUCH to look forward to! The holidays are only just starting to gear up, with plenty of parties, lunches, brunches, cookie exchanges, holiday dinners, present swapping, song singing and general fanfare to be had.
This also means tons of baking and cooking to look forward to. Yippee! For the next few weeks, I’d like to post some holiday recipes that will help both you and I ready ourselves for all of the eating, events and hostess-ing we will encounter for the next month!
Today’s recipe is a great (and simple) breakfast or brunch recipe. It can be prepped the night before, but it is also easily thrown together the morning of an event. Brunches seem more prevalent this time of year, so having a brunch-ready recipe is nice to have on hand. Many of you probably have a recipe like this in your repertoire, but if you don’t, it will be a good one to throw into your recipe box!
~~~~~
Breakfast Casserole
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 12-16 oz bacon or sausage, cooked/drained/crumbled
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of a 13×9-inch baking dish. tear up bread and arrange on the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle cooked meat over bread, topping with shredded cheese. Mix eggs, milk and mustard together; pour over the bread, meat and cheese. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until eggs are done.
~~~~~
It’s nothing special, but it is easy and comes out tasty every time. This might even be a fun breakfast treat to make on a Saturday or Sunday morning over the holidays for your family. Breakfast casserole is a nice break from the monotonous cereal or bagels we eat on a daily basis.
More holiday-inspired recipes to come! Have a great week!
