Clothes Mentor Opens in West Chester

How does today’s woman – whether she’s a stay-at-home mom or part of the workforce — achieve a high-end look at a fraction of a designer price?  She shops at Clothes Mentor now that they have opened in West Chester!

Clothes Mentor features like-new, name-brand items from popular designers like Ann Taylor, Coldwater Creek, Ralph Lauren and Coach.   But unlike consignment stores, Clothes Mentor offers cash on-the-spot for customers who sell their clothing and accessories.  This unique concept benefits both sellers and buyers in a challenging economy.

In just a few short weeks, the store has proven to be the “go-to”  place for high-end fashions, providing women of all ages and all body types with the chance to get that stylish look at a fraction of the price.  In addition, the store’s employees offer thorough and knowledgeable assistance to customers looking for the perfect pieces to add to their wardrobe – from scarves and accessories to the perfect holiday dress.

Franchise owners Stephen and Chris Barnett say they’re excited about offering affordable designer clothing to women.  It’s an approach they call, “look smart, be smart.”

“Clothes Mentor is perfect in a tough economy where people are trying to make wise purchase decisions.  We still want and need new clothes, but why pay full price?  We can be smarter and make a choice to buy the same great fashions for 70 percent less.”

Barnett also echoes a fact that most women know to be true:  whether chasing a toddler or running a high-powered meeting, feeling good and confident about one’s appearance simply can’t be underestimated.

Clothes Mentor recognizes that fact, and encourages women to acquire new pieces by offering cash on-the-spot for like new, stain-free clothing, shoes and handbags.  Fashions must be less than two years old and all purchased items generate merchandise for the store.

“We buy all seasons year-round, so you can clean out your closet, organize your shoes or jewelry and bring us the items you no longer wear,” says Chris.

Opening Clothes Mentor has also offered the Barnetts other opportunities to engage the community and to offer help to women struggling under varied circumstances.

In November, they partnered with “Style Me Hired” to award a complete makeover – including clothes, shoes and jewelry — to a Philadelphia-area woman affected by Hurricane Sandy.

“It’s simply everything we wanted,” says Chris.  Clothes Mentor also features regular promotions through advertising and Facebook.  “And we believe that those women who bring in their clothes help build the store.”

Connecting to their customer base with meaningful promotions is also key to their success, according to the Barnetts.  November highlighted Teacher Appreciation, and it also marked their first “Dress-off” Challenge – giving customers the opportunity to dress mannequins with fashions from the store – an event that drew a large FB following and mother-daughter teams.
