Bradford Heights Elementary School Annual Book Sale
March 4, 2010The Bradford Heights Elementary School will hold its second annual used book sale on
Friday, March 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, March 6, from 9 a.m.to noon.
The event will conclude with a bag sale from 12:30 to 1:30PM on Saturday, when shoppers may fill a grocery bag full of books for a nominal fee.The sale will take place in the gymnasium at Bradford Heights, located at 1331 Romig Road,
Downingtown.
Items for sale will include gently used books for children and adults in hardcover and paperback, DVDs, videos, puzzles and various board/computer games. All of the proceeds from the used book sale will directly support various educational programs and services for Bradford Heights Elementary School students.

Celebrating New Year’s (with the fam) in Chester County
December 30, 2009Celebrate New Year’s Eve with the family at Longwood Garden’s.
A daylong celebration begins at 1:30pm. Families can enjoy balloon artists, face painting, kids’ crafts, and ice skating performances (extra $5 fee required) and a fabulous fireworks display at 9:15pm. Ages four and under are free. Regular admission to the gardens is $16–all programs for kids are free with admission. Enjoy hot chocolate and other tasty refreshments throughout the Gardens. Gardens close at 10:00 pm. Please note that in the case of extreme weather conditions such as high wind gusts, the fireworks show will be cancelled.

Family Show at 12 Noon
Calling all fun-loving groups and families! The New Year’s celebration gets started at 11:30 a.m., with a meet-n-greet with the Fancy Brigades. Snap pictures with performers on the show floor, and get in step with the merrymaking in a Giant Mummers Strut. Then catch the Mummers matinee at noon, with 4 ½-minute performances by each of the 11 competing Fancy Brigades. You’re in for a spectacular 2 ½-hour show.

The 2009 Philadelphia Magazine Dream Home is now open and the West Chester Grower’s Market on Saturday. During the week there is everything from scrap booking clinics to ‘ Do it Her Self” Home Improvement Workshops at Home Depot, Beauty Classes at Calista Grand Salon & Spa to Holiday Wreath Making. There is sure to be an event or two that will give you a chance to get out and take some “time for mom”!
