Chester County Moms ~ Share Your Decorating Before and After Photos!

April 5, 2013

I spend a good part of my day watching HGTV. I watch during naps, while folding laundry, on nights that I can’t sleep.. . I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HGTV! I love the before and after renovation shows the most (Property Brothers, Income Property, Love It or List It, House Hunters) They give me hope that my little house can grow up to be a fabulously decorated house.

I have noticed that a few of the recent renovation posts on chestercountymoms.com have received lots of page views. Like The Fabulous Food Fairy’s beautiful kitchen reno and my current project with Disney Paint and Glidden. SO.. that makes me think there are lots of you out there, just like me. Ladies that love a good home renovation project.

I would love to introduce a new weekly feature where Moms submit their renovation before and after photos, in the hope that by sharing your creativity you will inspire others to paint a wall, strip a dresser, tile a back splash, hang new window treatments or even just rearrange furniture.

If you are interested in sharing your before and after photos, please fill out the form below and we will be in touch with you shortly. If you have any questions, please email chestercountymoms(at)gmail.com

A Bedroom Make Over Disney(Paint) Style

April 5, 2013

Did you know that Walmart sells paint? They do! I didn’t know that until an opportunity to work with Disney Paint and Glidden popped up in my inbox. In the Exton Walmart the Paint Department is in the back right corner near the Automotive Section and in the Parkesburg Walmart the Paint Department is off to the left near the gardening and pet supplies. You can buy everything from rollers to drop cloths, painters tape to matching bedding and accessories all in one place.

I have been selected to work on a room re-decorating project using Disney Paint sold exclusively at Walmart. I am excited about this opportunity, but my son is REALLY excited about this project. He is almost six and isn’t a fan of the jungle themed murals on his walls, painted before he was born or his cheetah print dresser, I painted hundreds of cheetah spots on.  I won an online award for “most fabulous nest” from Mamanista in 2007, but even the fact that it was an “award winning bedroom” couldn’t sway him to embrace the cheetah. Sigh!

These photos were from the “Best Nest” contest

I loved my sons room just the way it was and would have been very happy if it stayed jungle-like forever, but for a growing boy that likes action heros, video games and sports the baby jungle room isn’t going to cut it. I want him to be happy in his space and have pride in his room, so I hopped at the chance to participate in this makeover project.

I took my son with me to Walmart with me to pick out the new color. Without even telling him we were selecting a Disney Paint color he ran right to the display. Ryan from the Parkesburg, Walmart was AWESOME in helping us select the color and played along with the excitement of the project.

A few things about Disney Paints:

  • Disney Paint is a new line of paints available only at Walmart that captures the magic and inspiration of Disney with 112 exclusive colors and five innovative specialty finishes that are easy to use and apply.
  • Disney Paint is a premium-quality, ultra-durable paint that was formulated with your child in mind to withstand wear and tear, as well as repeated scrubs and washes. Scuffs, crayon and pencil marks, little finger prints, and tough stains, such as grape juice, wash off easily without removing the magical color.
  • Disney Paint is low odor and has no VOCs.
  • Disney Paint has a distinct collection of colors grouped into palettes designed to give your children options at every stage of style – from infant to tween. The diverse palettes make decorating with your child – no matter the age – easy and fun.
  • Some colors are designed to complement not only each other but also Walmart’s Disney bedding and Disney room accessories, such as furniture, toys and décor options, sold in store or online.

Stay tuned for more posts as I paint and redecorate and… of course, the big reveal…

Disney Pixar’s “Finding Dory” to Dive into Theaters November 25, 2015

April 2, 2013

When Dory said “just keep swimming” in 2003’s Oscar®-winning film “Finding Nemo,” she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, revealed details today about Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory”—an all-new big-screen adventure diving into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.
“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”
Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton takes audiences back to the extraordinary underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”
According to Stanton, “Finding Dory” takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.
