Beach Chatter – Let Summer Vacation Begin

If a visit to the Delaware Beaches is in your plans for this summer then don’t miss the Beach Chatter, a weekly post that will make sure you are prepared for your trip with weather updates, calendar events, and other useful tips to make your trip to the beach, a successful one.

Greetings from the beach!
In case you didn’t know I’m an elementary school teacher by day {blogger by night} and I’m thrilled to report that Wednesday was officially my first day of summer vacation. So from now on if anybody needs to find me I’ll be on the beach with my toes in the sand and hopefully a book in my hand, when I’m not building sandcastles that is!

So let’s get down to beach business.
If you are planning a visit this weekend the weather looks perfect for beach days.

Personally, I would be setting up camp on the beach all weekend, but if you are looking for some other options here are a few events scheduled for this weekend.

  • Restaurant Week in Rehoboth ends this weekend, but you still have the chance to sample some of our local chefs delicious menus on Friday and Saturday. Participating restaurants are serving prefixe meals at $30 for three courses.

  • Alley Oop will be holding a FREE skim board clinic on the beach at New Orleans Street, in Dewey Beach on Saturday. Learn how to skim board or if you already know how you can learn some new tricks from local experts. Call 302.227.7087 for more information.
  • If art is your thing then you will want to fit Second Saturdays Destination Art Walk into your beach visit. You can visit downtown art galleries from 6-9 PM as part of the new Second Saturday Art Walks presented by Mosaic – the new gallery collective for downtown Rehoboth. Check out the galleries, the fabulous art, receptions and more. Seemosaicrehoboth for details.
