Wednesday Wellness: 400+ Local Women Give Santa a Helping Hand

This post has been provided by The Chester County Hospital and Health System, the only not-for-profit and independent hospital in Chester County. Instead of a health topic, we wanted to share the details about an upcoming fundraising event open to the community. Proceeds will support new technology in the Hospital’s Emergency Department, which treats more than 42,000 people each year. As a non-profit, the Hospital is grateful for community generosity, which directly impacts patient care.

Santa’s Workshop Raffle Prize!
Santa will get a hand this holiday from the 400+ volunteers of the Women’s Auxiliary to The Chester County Hospital when they deck the halls of the Hospital on Tuesday, December 13. Santa’s Workshop is an annual fundraising event where each of the 11 branches of the Women’s Auxiliary makes and sells holiday items. Offerings include fresh greens and flower arrangements, homemade baked goods, roasted nuts for holiday entertaining, hand-sewn doll clothes, organic holiday pet treats and tree ornaments.

The community and the Hospital’s employees look forward to this annual event. Kimberly Pierce, who has been with the Hospital for four years, says, “I love shopping at Santa’s Workshop because of the variety of items for sale, and with each you know you are getting a one-of-kind, handmade item. It’s an easy way to get unique, affordable little gifts for all of those people who pop up on your shopping list.”

The event is open to the public and area residents are happy to support the event. West Chester resident Katie Fultz says, “It’s a great shopping experience. Santa’s Workshop and the Women’s Auxiliary Gift Shop at the Hospital always have unique gifts. You are able to give thoughtful gifts without much time or effort. The money goes to the Hospital, which is wonderful, but there is just a really great feeling with all of these women using their talents to make the community a better place. Isn’t that what the holidays are about?”

The big story at Santa’s Workshop this year is that someone will win a completely furnished house – dollhouse that is.

#1 Storybook Lane

is a two-story, fully decorated Victorian dollhouse that comes complete with its own fairytale that includes a king, a queen and, of course, a dragon.

Santa’s Workshop opens at 7 am and runs until 3 pm on December 13, in the main North Pavilion hallway of The Chester County Hospital,

701 East Marshall Street

in West Chester. All are welcome! (Free valet parking is available.)
