Elmwood Park Zoo Presents Nightmare At Elmwood

Looking for a great family Halloween event? Check out Elmwood Park Zoo’s annual Nightmare at Elmwood Halloween event kicking off on Saturday, October 24 at 6 p.m. This safe trick-or-treating opportunity boasts eight candy stations, a mad scientist’s laboratory, decomposition trail, pirates cove theatre, cornstalk maze, pumpkin decorating, graveyard of extinction and much more.

The Zoo will also host a nightly costume contest for Best Animal, Most Originial, and Family. New this year, the Zoo will be open on Halloween with a special daytime version of Nightmare at Elmwood from 11 a.m until 4 p.m. Admission: $5.00 per adult, $7.00 per child, members enter free. Price valid only during dates and time listed for Nightmare at Elmwood 2009.

October 24, 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. – Explore the evening sky with some real Astronomers (weather permitting)

October 25, 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. – There will be storytelling at 7 p.m. with Rich Cutshall

October 30, 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. – The Wagner Free Institute will be on hand all night with glowing rocks, skeleton specimens and traces of prehistoric creatures. The treasures from this Philadelphia natural history museum are sure to make you scream! There will be storytelling at 7 p.m. with Jane King, and storytelling at 8 p.m. with Rich Cutshall

October 31, 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. – The Philadelphia Eagles Fan Zone will give kids of all ages an opportunity to play “Madden 10” football. The first 53 children under the age of 12 who visit the Fan Zone will win a Philadelphia Eagles Kids Club membership. There will be storytelling at 11:30 a.m. with Jane King.
